DRINKS and snacks machines are to be placed in car parks in Bury St Edmunds later this summer as part of a deal which will boost council coffers.
Seven vending machines, dispensing hot and cold drinks and well as food, will be place in the arc lower level and surface car park as well as the multi-storey car park on Parkway and the bus station.
Cllr David Ray, portfolio holder for performance and resources, will announce the move at a meeting of St Edmundsbury Borough Council on Tuesday.
His report to the meeting says the council has chosen a company called Selecta to run the machines.
“It is expected that vending machines will be placed at these locations during this summer,” said Cllr Ray in his report.
The council will receive an annual rent from Selecta – although the figure is still to be determined. Cllr Ray’s report describes it as ‘a significant annual income’.
