A campaign to raise £200,000 for a new pre-school building in Horringer has held its first fund-raising event.

A sponsored slide-a-thon was organised by Horringer Pre-School last Thursday and raised more than £500 for their new ‘Acorn Project’.

Pre-school children were sponsored to slide down an inflatable slide, donated by entertainment company Castle Capers, as many times as possible in one hour.

They were also joined by reception pupils from Ickworth Park Primary School who paid a small donation to join in the fun.

Pre-School manager Stephie Page said: “The children were very excited to be contributing to the fund-raising for our new building and we are very proud of their efforts.”

Jenny Newcombe, chairman of the Horringer Pre-School Committee, added: “We are thrilled with the support we have had so far from parents and children towards our Acorn Project.”

The new building would help reduce running costs as well as provide improved facilities for the pre-school.
