Bury St Edmunds Round Table has donated 50 sleeping bags to the Sunday Suppers Group for distribution to the town’s homeless.

Following a request for help from Sunday Suppers, the Round Table was able to use funds raised from the Abbey Gardens Fireworks Spectacular and its Santa Sleigh to purchase the Trespass sleeping bags.

Sunday Suppers is a group of volunteers, led by Dottie Mistry, which provides hot meals on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings, as well as flasks and snacks for those in need, from a stall in front of Moyse’s Hall Museum.

As well as food and drinks, it also provides toiletries, clothes, sleeping bags as well a small stoves so that people can warm food themselves.

“We are delighted to play a small part in helping this fantastic cause,” said Round Table chairman Robin Cutler.
