A NEW sign was due to be unveiled on a Bury St Edmunds estate today in memory of a much-loved former resident.
MP David Ruffley was revealing the sign on the Mildenhall Road Estate this morning as a tribute to Arthur Smith, who died aged 85 last July.
Mr Smith lived on Gloucester Road for most of his life and was chairman of the Mildenhall Road Estate Residents’ Association.
He was instrumental in the group’s drive to put up a sign, which outlines all the road names on the estate as well as providing other community information.
It has been put on the corner of Wordsworth Road and Mitchell Avenue.
Karen Mayhew, chief executive of Havebury Housing, said: “We were very happy to create the sign which will leave a lasting legacy to Arthur’s memory.”
