Shoppers donate £2,000 to heroes’ charity collection

GENEROUS shoppers in Stowmarket have donated more than £2,000 for Help for Heroes as part of a nationwide charity collection.

Stowmarket Rotary Club took up the two day challenge when it discovered the Cedars Park store did not have a collection arranged.

Last Friday and Saturday, Rotarians and members of the Inner Wheel held their collection and raised a total of £2,092.

John Kendall, Rotary vice-president ,said: “People were really generous and were queuing up to donate. I think this is something everyone is very willing to give to.”

The Cedars Park supermarket was store number 701 out of a total of 728 Tesco stores which were raising money for the charity at the weekend.

Stores in Bury St Edmunds, Brandon and Thetford also took part in the fund-raising. A spokeswoman for Help for Heroes said “We would just like to thank everyone who contributed.
