Series of café thefts

Police are urging people not to leave their possessions on display after a series of thefts from cafés.

The first theft occurred at a café in Whiting Street, Bury St Edmunds, at 3pm on January 31, when a mobile phone was stolen from a table top.

A second phone was stolen from a café in Abbeygate Street, Bury, on February 22 at 1.40pm.

On both occasions, witnesses reported seeing two women in the area speaking with people before leaving.

The women were described as being in their 40s, around 5ft 6ins, with long, dark hair and wearing colourful headscarves.
