Lucy's Restaurant opens in Fornham All Saints near Bury St Edmunds
Independently-run Lucy's Restaurant has brought a taste of Italy to Fornham All Saints, where it opened last month.
Bury St Edmunds-raised Lucy Davis and Johannesburg-born Francois Pretorius are behind the casual dining venue which is now serving at 2 Church Cottage.
The unit, which used to be an organic grocery shop, has been refurbished and extended to include a spacious seating area and bar.
Lucy said the stand-out feature is a bespoke Italian oven - which allows pizza to be cooked quickly to order.
She said: “The rotating base cooks the pizza to perfection and it’s already proving a real showstopper that people want to see and take photos of.”
The restaurant also has handmade pasta and seafood on the menu.
Lucy and Francois met at Ballymaloe Cookery School in Ireland. Lucy said they swiftly discovered a shared passion for Italian food - and an ambition to open their own restaurant.
She added: "We learnt how to perfect pasta at the cookery school.
"Now we are using the same recipe and methods taught at the school in the restaurant.
"Everything on the menu, from the pizza and pasta doughs is made from scratch."
