Sealey to expand its offer as it purchases site on Suffolk Park

Sealey, one of the largest suppliers of garage and workshop equipment is to expand its Bury St Edmunds operation after buying a 7.5 acre site on the Suffolk Park.

The company,which employs some 400 people and has premises in Kempson Way, Moreton Hall, has purchased the business park site and will be working up a planning application for a new facility there.

The news follows a number of local businesses keen to move onto the park to take advantage of its easy links to the A14.

Ben Oughton, development director at Jaynic, the developer of Suffolk Park, said: "The Sealey acquisition is a good example of the strong interest being shown by both local, regional and national occupiers in Suffolk Park which is adjacent to the A14 with its excellent links to the national motorway network."

Mark Sweetman, managing director of Sealey, said: "We are focused on continuing the growth of our business and this acquisition will enable us to expand our property footprint in line with our strategic plans. We are excited about what the future holds and the additional employment opportunities that will be created locally."

Councillor John Griffiths, leader of St Edmundsbury Borough Council, said: "It is great to see that our work to secure the Eastern Relief Road and with it the availability of land to expand, has meant another one of our successful local businesses is able to not only plan for its future growth, but in so doing, is also able to further strengthen its commitment to this wonderful part of West Suffolk.

"In the long term this is about helping businesses to grow and create new jobs, skills and greater opportunities for the communities that we represent. So we welcome news of this sale and we look forward to looking at the detail of the planning application in due course."

Suffolk Park already has consent for up to two million sq ft of logistics, manufacturing and business space.

Treatt PLC has purchased a 10-acre site on the parkâ s enterprise zone for its global headquarters and two further speculative logistic units are being developed by Jaynic.

The major new estate road and landscaping have now been completed. Agents for the park are Savills and local agents are Hazells.
