A school, which was told to improve by education watchdogs, has made steps to address areas of concern.

Howard Primary, in Bury, has ‘moved quickly to revise its improvement plan’ according to Ofsted, which conducted a monitoring visit in December.

It followed an inspection in October when officers said the school ‘requires improvement’.

In a report, inspector Stephen Abbott noted that plans are in place to improve outdoor learning in nursery and reception classes and teachers’ planning has been revised to put more emphasis on stretching the more able pupils. The school is to improve writing by introducing writing journals and scheduling additional training for teachers .

He added: “The local authority has confidence that the school is improving and maintaining its support through training and adviser visits.”
