Coronavirus: Mildenhall College Academy cancels ski trip to Italy
A school has cancelled a planned ski trip to Italy due to coronavirus after the country was placed on lockdown.
Mildenhall College Academy had organised a ski trip next month to Passo Tonale, which is between Lombardy and Trentino.
Last week, a parent, whose child was one of about 30 due to go on the ski trip, said the Italian and American authorities had placed travel restrictions on the area and called on the British Government to do the same to prevent the trip. Click here for story.
However, the school has decided to call off the trip.
A spokesman for the academy said: “In light of recent developments in Italy we have taken the decision to cancel the school ski trip this April.
"The safety and wellbeing of our students, staff and our wider academy is our number one priority.
"We are all operating in unprecedented times and we will continue to follow Government guidelines as developments around the coronavirus continue both in the UK and abroad.
"We are working with the travel operator and our broker to recover all costs."
