The emergency medical charity, Suffolk Accident Rescue Service (SARS) was called to help with a serious head injury in Bury St Edmunds last night.

A 66-year-old man had sustained the head injury in a fall and the ambulance crew needed assistance.

Around half of the charity’s doctors and critical care paramedics were available to respond to the call, which came in at around 8.40pm, as the charity’s annual general meeting was finishing in Norton.

Volunteer doctor Jeremy Mauger and volunteer CCP Neil Flowers responded and, after being assessed, the man was given a sedative by Dr Mauger and taken to the West Suffolk Hospital, in Bury.
