THE neighbours of a Needham Market man who died last week have described his death as a ‘sad loss’.

Robert John Pilbrough, of Burton Drive, died in hospital following an incident at his home in the town on February 1.

Police were called to Burton Drive just after 7am last Tuesday following reports of an injured man with a neck wound in the garden of a property.

The East Of England Ambulance Service was called and paramedics found Mr Pilbrough lying face down on the ground.

The ambulance service said he was breathing and responding to paramedics.

Mr Pilbrough was taken to West Suffolk Hospital where he later died.

The 55-year-old had lived in Needham Market for many years and worked at Gammers Ford in Stowmarket.

One neighbour said: “It is a sad loss for the road.

“He was a good neighbour, he kept himself to himself but was always very friendly and polite.

“He always gave me a wave.”

Police said there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding Mr Pilbrough’s death.

An inquest was opened and adjourned by Ipswich Coroners Office on February 3.
