A long-serving member of Mildenhall Royal British Legion has received one of the organisation’s most prestigious awards.

Colin Plowright was presented with the National Gold Badge at a ceremony at the Bell Hotel in Mildenhall on Tuesday by Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Suffolk and president of the county’s RBL.

Mr Plowright, who is branch vice-chairman, said he was very proud of the group’s recent achievement in raising £16,000 from the local community and was pleased to know that his colleagues had thought him worthy of such an important award.
