A GROUP of dedicated rowers have completed a gruelling challenge to row one million metres in less than three days.

Fifteen adults and the same number of children from Needham Market pulled together for the task, starting on Friday morning in Stowmarket Tesco car park, they rowed round the clock to reach one million metres in just 70 hours 17 minutes and 45 seconds.

Rob Pattison, who led the group, said: “There were a few injuries because of fatigue and blisters but we all came out well. It couldn’t have gone any better.”

The team raised £1,300 over the weekend but hope to raise much more after collecting sponsorship. The money will be split between Rob’s charity Possibilities, to help Aids orphans in Uganda, and for the Prostate Cancer charity.
