A soon-to-be blushing bride became a blushing fiancée when her engagement ring snapped – and its replacement took five weeks!
Jasmin Shanks’ last present on Christmas Day was a nine carat white gold engagement ring from her partner Josh Treanor, with whom she has a four-month-old daughter, Esmae.
“It was beautiful – very sparkly but not over the top,” said Jasmin, whose joy was short lived, with the ring breaking six days later.
The 20-year-old, from Honington, thought it had been resized incorrectly, leaving the back too thin, and returned it to H Samual, Bury St Edmunds, on New Years’ Eve - but a replacement took an agonising five weeks.
“Friends kept saying ‘let’s see your engagement ring’ and I didn’t have one which made him sound cheap and was embarrassing,” she said, labelling the customer service she received as ‘absolutely shocking’.
She says she was ‘furious’ to learn the store was waiting for stock rather than ordering a ring in especially.
“Mistakes happen – if a ring breaks, it breaks, but it’s the way they deal with it and how they make you feel that counts – to them it was just a ring,” she said.
Alice Gregory, spokeswoman for H Samuel, refused to comment on the matter, stating: “For privacy reasons, it is our policy not to disclose information about our customers, including the resolution of customer service issues, through third-parties.”
