Former pupils of King Edward VI School, in Bury St Edmunds, are being invited to an annual reunion weekend.

A memorial meeting will take place at St James’s Middle School from 12.30pm on September 20 to remember Peter Smeltzer, who was head of geography from 1949 to 1979.

Family, students and colleagues will be contributing their memories of the well-respected teacher who died in January at the age of 94.

A buffet lunch will follow at 1.15pm for those wishing to attend the Old Burians’ AGM at 2pm. Lunches must be pre-booked.

A reunion dinner will take place at the Cathedral Refectory from 6.45pm, with students who left in 1954, 1964 and 1974 especially encouraged to attend.

Then, at 10am on September 21, members will join the cathedral congregation for the Family Eucharist.
