PUBLICANS Jeff and Nina Chamberlain are retiring, but are determined to find the right people to succeed them.

The couple have left The Brewer’s Arms at Rattlesden before and want to find the perfect replacements.

Jeff said: “We first came here in 1996 and were here until 2001, then came back in 2007.

“But we’ve decided to retire. We’re getting older and we want more time for ourselves.”

Jeff is 68 and Nina 60 and they should have left on January 17.

Jeff explained: “Greene King couldn’t find anyone to take it over. We said we’d stay until the end of March and, if necessary, we’d mentor someone new.

“People say ‘you’re retiring, what’s it to you?’ but it’s a lot to me.

“I’d be gutted if it went downhill because we’ve put a lot of work into making it what it is.”
