TWO residents have taken matters into their own hands after a council told them they would have to wait for a grass verge to be cut.
On Monday, Fran Phillips and her brother-in-law Ken cut down long grass on the verge near to the junction between Peppers High Hill and the A1065 Mundford Road near Weeting.
Mrs Phillips said she had asked Norfolk County Council to clear the verge as it was obscuring the view of oncoming traffic as drivers waited to pull out.
“I was badly hurt 20 years ago in a similar situation and we want to prevent something similar.
“I’m very angry at the council for not coming out to do this themselves,” she said.
A spokesman for the county council said recent weather had speeded up growth on the verge.
He added that spring verge cutting had now started and would take four weeks.
