Bury St Edmunds Leisure Centre is to receive £500,000 worth of much needed repairs.

Cladding and flumes are to be replaced and a draft lobby to the main entrance built under plans approved by the development control committee at St Edmundsbury Borough Council, which owns the facility, in Beeton’s Way.

The authority says the replacements are needed as the features have started to deteriorate and the work will improve energy efficiency.

A spokeswoman said the work ‘will be managed to cause the minimum of disruption to users’.
