THE sports at a mini-Olympics held in Fornham All Saints are unlikely to be at the real thing.
But they proved popular among the pre-schoolers of the Bury St Edmunds Childminding Group.
After a torch relay around the community centre’s field, the youngsters were able to try their hand at teddy high jump, welly throwing, a peg race and an Olympic Colour Race.
Even the adults had their own event, with a childminder obstacle race. The group’s chairwoman Emma Gibson said: “The childminders have to collect several items that represent the daily obstacles they come up against.
“In essence, our mini Olympics are a fun treat for the children we look after.”
The group has 30 members who are all registered childminders looking after six to eight children. Childminders interested in joining should contact the group’s co-ordinator Tara Malton on 01284 760734.
