READERS’ POETRY: From the Bury Free Press of Friday, Septmber 16

This week’s poem, called Miscommunication, is by Jan Parkin.
Miscommunication
You’re texting once again
No face to face for you at all
You can’t remember when
All underlying messages
With confusing texting speak
The art of body language
You’ve not seen it all week
With painful gaps and pauses
Not knowing why or when
Assumptions made like solid facts
And still you try again
Maybe they don’t like me
Never liked them anyway
You’re skilled at this mind reading
You do it everyday
The art of conversation
Just sitting face to face
Extinct just like the laughing owl
That’s lost his rightful place
So Miscommunication
Don’t lose the gift of speech
As the growth of life’s technology
Takes it further from our reach...
