READERS’ POETRY: From the Bury Free Press of Friday, December 19

Readers' poetry
Readers' poetry

This week we have poems from D Meeings and Aland Claxton.

She is a help to people

Yes seems to be her word

Let’s put the kettle on says

Voice heard and all goods shared

I’ll have a garden party. With homemade cake to eat.

And all our pals in Elmswell will enjoy a happy treat.......

D Meekings

It’s high pressure time at Christmas

To please young girls and boys

All want expensive computer games

Instead of Santa’s toys.

So the elves were all retrained

Throughout the winter blizzards

Gone from making wooden toys

And turned into computer wizards.

No longer at the North Pole

Up there amongst the snow

Have moved to San Francisco

With aircon set ten below.

The location chosen by the elves

To please old Santa’s wife

Was the valley of Santa Clara

Or Silicon Valley to be precise.

So back there at the North Pole

The only things they stock

Are wind-up drumming monkeys

Jumpers, handerkerchiefs and socks!
