READERS’ POETRY: From the Bury Free Press of Friday, April 3

This week’s poem, called Your Life is a Play, is by Jan Parkin.

There’s a play that you’re in

It’s your life

There are so many parts that you’re in

Changing roles as you go through the scenes

Reaching out, chasing stars

And your dreams

There are parts that you play that are hard

Those that test you beyond

What seems real

But you go on with stage fright

And get through

Even though this is not what you feel

In this stage where you act out your roles

These new parts are a challenge no doubt

But you rehearse them each day

And you learn

That you’ll soon grasp your lines anyway

So when you’re down

And you’re lost in the pit

Just remember to cope with your wit

Let resilience and strength be your armour

To protect and survive all the drama

For although there are scenes

That are testing

Just remove your disguise

And start resting

And before long you’ll see skies are clearer

You’ll see light through the curtains get nearer

For the applause that get when you’ve done it

Show that you’ve battled on and then won it!...
