ONE of the organisers of the Mildenhall Cycling Rally has described his shock at the death of one of the annual event’s regular riders.

Lesley Norman, an RSPB film-maker from Bedfordshire, died in France on Monday after being hit by a car while cycling.

Mark Burchett, an organiser of the rally, said Ms Norman was a regular camper at the rally, a ‘lovely person’ and an enthusiastic cyclist.

“Understandably, we were all shocked and surprised at the news.

“It is sadly ironic that it happened when she was doing something that she enjoyed so much,” he said.

Mr Burchett added that the planning group would decide at their next meeting whether anything would be done to mark Miss Norman’s death.
