FORCES charities will be benefiting from a sponsored walk with a history lesson.

The six-mile walk that makes up the shortest of the Bury Challenge Walks on June 10 will take a guided route from Bury St Edmunds Rugby Club around the most interesting parts of town led by Blue Badge Guide Mike Dean.

Though sponsorship is not a condition of entry, a challenge cup will be awarded to the person who raises the most.

For those more interested in exercise than history, there are 15 and 26-mile walks.

The charities benefiting from the walks, organised by Catherine Buchannon and Jane Patton and run alongside that day’s St Edmund’s Wheel cycle event, are Royal British Legion, Soldiers Charity, RAF Benevolent Fund and Royal Anglian Regiment’s benevolent fund.
