The B1065 at RAF Lakenheath was closed for two hours this morning after base sniffer dogs flagged up a security concern.

The Ministry of Defence explosives disposal team were called out to check the vehicle which was pronounced safe.

The security alert meant drivers suffered delays and hold ups on the road leading to the base which was closed at 9am this morning and not re-opened until 11.15am.

A base spokesman said that one of the dogs operating standard vehicle inspections had flagged up a concern while checking a civilian vehicle entering the base. This was part of normal security checks.
