A Woolpit-based quilting group has celebrated its 20th birthday.

Members of Mardle Quilters travel from all around the country to meet at Woolpit Village Hall on the last Friday of the month.

But last Friday was an extra special occasion as it marked 20 years since the group first started.

Caroline Pajak said: “The group was started by Kate Kearney, Chris Mundy and Liz Stephenson who hired a hall and guaranteed the hire for six months – and we are still going strong 20 years later.”

Members take part in the annual Woolpit Craft Fair and regularly donate group quilts to church or charity.
