FOUR friends have overcome another gruelling obstacle in their quest for a prestigious award.
Josh Clarke Davis, from Felsham, Will Points, from Great Barton, and Frank Carn-Pryor and Iain Crawford, from the Troston area, completed a 110km canoe journey on the River Wye last week.
The quartet – aged 19 to 23 – took on the challenge as part of the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme.
Josh, 19, said the four-day test proved they could plan and execute an organised expedition – an essential part of the Duke of Edinburgh process.
“It was tough and you had to have a certain level of experience and training but we got through it well.
“We all like the outdoors and thought this would be an ideal. The awards are a great experience and I’d encourage anyone who is thinking of doing them to get involved,” he said.
Will and Frank gained their Gold Award by completing the expedition. Josh and Iain were completing their practice expedition, in readiness for their qualifying expedition next year.
