Pupils attend leadership conference in Bury St Edmunds

Seventy Year 5 students from within the Bury Schools Partnership took part in a leadership conference at King Edward VI School, in Bury St Edmunds, on Wednesday.

The event, supported by Youth Sport Trust, aimed to develop the students’ confidence in officiating sport and their coaching skills to make them more effective leaders and volunteers both on and off of the sports pitch.

The sessions were led by Mary Harmer, of Suffolk Football Association, Cameron Brown, of Sporting 87, and King Edward VI School young leaders and staff.

Danny Burton, director of community sport and leadership, said: “It was great to see so many pupils from within our partnership actively engaged in leadership. They evidently grew in confidence and competence throughout the day. They will be valuable assets to the workforce of the future.”
