CHILDREN from Mildenhall schools were putting safety first this week as the Crucial Crew event took place.
Year 6 pupils from across Forest Heath dealt with scenarios ranging from fires, anti-social behaviour, first aid, cycle safety, internet safety, 999 calls, property marking and electricity safety.
The event took place at Mildenhall Stadium in West Row.
It kicked off on Monday with pupils from College Heath Middle School, before children from Riverside Middle School and Breckland Middle School, in Brandon ,had their turn on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively.
Heather Highton, a crime reduction officer in the Forest Heath area, has organised the event for the past 13 years.
“The children have loved it as usual – it’s a great way to get them learning with practical scenarios.
“If we can even help out in one emergency situation then this it’s all worthwhile,” she said.
Around 450 pupils from the area attended the event which finishes today.
