Bury St Edmunds pub Oakes Barn reopens with display of 'diverse' art work

A pub will reopen with a showcase of work by its community art group.

Oakes Barn, in Bury St Edmunds, will display the 15 pieces of work by the Making Space print-making group.

With more than 20 members, it meets at the St Andrew’s Street South venue on the second and fourth Tuesday morning of each month and uses a press paid for through council locality budget funding.

Spokeswoman Alison Hart-Arkley said: “It’s a great group which is very diverse - some of them have been art teachers, some still are, some have run galleries, several of them have got degrees in art. It’s a very good standard of work.”

A viewing was due to be held yesterday afternoon and the work displayed will be for sale.

The exhibition will be updated as new work is produced.
