Pub plans submitted

Have your say

WETHERSPOON has submitted a planning and listed building application to turn the Corn Exchange, in Bury St Edmunds, into a pub.

St Edmundsbury Borough Council is looking to lease the top floor of the grade II listed building and has already chosen Wetherspoons as its preferred tenant.

However, the council has also already refused its own planning application to turn the building into a pub – it wanted the permission to help market the building which is redundant following the opening of The Apex.

Now Wetherspoon is hoping it can overcome the concerns over the impact on businesses and residents that led to that refusal.
