Ickworth Park Primary School praised for strong leadership in recent Ofsted inspection

A primary school is celebrating after maintaining its ‘good’ Ofsted rating following a recent inspection.

Ickworth Park Primary School, in Horringer, was praised for having strong leadership, after extending its age range to include Year 5 and 6 pupils three years ago.

Positive relationships with ‘credible partners’ and a good relationship between pupils and staff were also singled out alongside an ‘exciting, engaging and effective’ curriculum and a strong safeguarding policy.

Outside of the classroom, connections with the Bury Schools Partnership and the National Theatre were also praised.

Denise Burrell, headteacher, said: “We are delighted that the inspector acknowledges the hard work of staff and governors in moving the
school forward in the last three years. This is a result of everyone’s hard work – staff, students, governors and the entire school community – and I sincerely thank them all.”

Other areas of praise were a committed governing team who were said to possess a ‘united vision’ while arts provision was described to be a strength of the school.
