Thousands of properties were without electricity on Saturday following a power cut at 4.50pm.

A spokeswoman for UK Power Networks said: “UK Power Networks engineers worked as quickly and as safely as possible to restore electricity supplies to several thousand properties following a power cut at 4.50pm on Saturday.

“The majority of properties in the Brandon and Thetford areas had their power restored within half an hour and the remaining properties were back on supply by 5.50pm.

“We understand how difficult it is to be without power and apologise for any inconvenience caused by the power cut, which occurred during a thunderstorm.”
