Abbeycroft Leisure swimming pools recognised for standard of water

Abbeycroft Leisure has been accredited with a nationally recognised standard for pool water quality at three of their swimming pools.

‘Poolmark' is the UK's National Standard for Pool Water Treatment and Quality, providing a certified assurance to operators and the public, that the standards within the code of practice are being met.

The Pool Water Treatment Advisory Group (PWTAG) provides pool operators with a structured plan for the technical operation of their pool, ensuring that the pool meets quality standards that provide a healthy experience for swimmers, including being able to deal with the threats from bacteria, chlorine resistant pathogens, and other infectious diseases.

Abbeycroft were accredited ‘Poolmark' at their Bury St Edmunds, Haverhill and Newmarket pools after going through the rigorous assessment process.

The other pools within their portfolio will also apply for the accreditation in due course.

Leigh Alston, health and safety co-ordinator at Abbeycroft Leisure, said: “We’re very proud of this achievement as health and safety throughout our centres is a priority. We are passionate about making every customer’s experience a positive one and this accreditation gives our customers reassurance about our pool water and treatment.”
