Suffolk Police are investigating an alleged road rage incident near Ixworth last Thursday.

Police received a 999 call from a woman driving along the A143 at around 8.15am in relation to, what they say, ‘appeared to be a road rage incident’.

The alleged victim says she was left shaking and in tears after being shouted at by a driver who, she claims, also deliberately struck her car and threw objects at it.

She says she was ‘disgusted’ by the police response, with no officers sent to ‘the scene’ and two appointments with officers later cancelled, one at her house and one after she had travelled to the police station in Bury St Edmunds.

A police spokesman said: “Unfortunately due to a critical incident that came in later that day, which required immediate police response and resourcing, an alternative appointment had to be made at a mutually convenient time.

“We have since received a letter of complaint about how the initial call was dealt with. This matter is now being looked into, therefore, we are not able to comment further until the matter has been fully investigated.”
