Police news.

Police were called to reports of loud bangs in the Myrtle Close area of Bury St Edmunds earlier this evening.

Officers went to investigate after receiving a call at about 7.30pm but did not find anything.

With today being US Independence Day, they believe the noise was most likely caused by fireworks.

A police spokesman said: “There are a lot of American service personnel who live around there and it’s July 4th so it could well have been fireworks.”
