Traffic chaos after four car crash on the A14 near Bury St Edmunds

There was traffic chaos on the A14 near Bury St Edmunds this morning after a four car crash.

Police were called to the scene between junctions 41 and 42 at 8.40am to reports of a collision in the fast lane on the A14 westbound.

A police spokesman said there were no injuries and all cars involved were off the road by 9.01am.

Cars were tailed back past junction 42 while the incident was dealt with.

Earlier in the morning a van also broke down in the A14 slip road at the sugar beet factory.

Trouble with a lorry on the A11 at Newmarket also caused tailbacks on the A14 between Bury St Edmunds and Newmarket.

A police spokesman said drivers had to dodge a lorry door which was opened into the carriageway.
