Police armed with Tasers were called to the centre of Bury St Edmunds this afternoon after a man said he had been stabbed in the arm.

Police officers closed the alleyway between King’s Road and Waitrose carpark for almost an hour after being called to the scene by an ambulance crew at about 1.15pm.

A police spokesman said: “The armed response is standard if we believe someone has a weapon.”

The man was treated for ‘deep lacerations’ though the injuries were not believed to have been serious.

Suffolk Police are asking anyone who saw anything to call Bury St Edmunds police station on 101 quoting CAD 186 of today (September 30).
