Police appeal follows A11 crash near Barton Mills

Police have appealed for witnesses to a crash on the A11 between Barton Mills and Red Lodge yesterday afternoon.

A Rover and a BMW collided on the northbound carriageway at about 1pm.

It took fire crews an hour to release two people from the Rover who were treated by ambulance crews, along with five other casualties.

An elderly man and woman were taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital with what were initially thought to be life-threatening and life-changing injuries however these assessments have since been changed.

The man, who was driving, has received treatment for a broken shoulder.

The five people in the BMW suffered cuts and bruises.

Police want to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the manner of driving of the vehicles beforehand. The Rover had entered the dual carriageway from Newmarket Road.
