Police are appealing for witnesses after a cat was found strangled in Bury St Edmunds.

The incident occurred between 10am on Tuesday September 3 and 4.45pm on Sunday September 8 in The Vinefields.

The cat, a male black and brown tabby, had not returned home after being let out.

The owner had been out searching for the cat but it was eventually discovered nearby by a neighbour.

The cat had been subjected to an attack whereby gaffer tape had been wrapped tightly around its neck.

There was also a deep laceration around its neck which may have been caused by the tape.
