Plans for new post office service in Lavenham

Lavenham’s mobile post office is due to be replaced with a new service at the village’s former tourist information centre.

The former centre, in Lady Street, has been taken over by the parish council, which has asked the Post Office to move there as part of plans to open a community hub/information centre.

It would be a hosted outreach service provided by the Long Melford Postmaster on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 11am to 2pm.

The service would be the same number of hours as provided by the Post Office mobile service but at different times.

The Post Office is holding a public consultation on the move and is looking for feedback about accessibility, local community issues and anything that can be done to ‘make life easier’ for customers.

The consultation will close on January 22 and residents can share their views online at www.postofficeviews.co.uk with the branch code 713130 or email comments@postoffice.co.uk.
