Plans to create a sculpture to celebrate Bury St Edmunds’ links with the Magna Carta have received a £2,000 boost from the town council.

The money will fund the purchase of a stone, which will be sculpted by master stone mason Brian Ansell.

Standing in the Abbey Gardens water garden, it will be created in situ so people will be able to watch its progress. The Magna Carta celebrations continue with a light and sound festival in October.
