Plan for garage, shop and drive-thrus just metres from existing A14 services at Needham Market
Plans have been lodged to build a new services just a stone's throw away from an existing facility near Needham Market.
Euro Garages Ltd has submitted proposals with Mid Suffolk District Council for unused land at the junction of the A14 and A140, between Needham Market and Coddenham, to build a petrol station, associated shop and two drive-thrus.
The development, off Norwich Road, would be metres away from existing services with Shell garage, Travelodge and Burger King.
In its application, the firm said: “The site is strategically situated at the junction of A14 and A140.
“EG Group has identified a need for the proposed development to serve users of the heavily trafficked road.
“Its development will provide a vital roadside service facility and result in significant job creation.
“The proposed development will result in significant economic benefits for the Mid Suffolk region via the creation of 100-110 jobs.”
Last summer Euro Garages submitted plans for a new services off junction 42 of the A14, near Bury St Edmunds, which it said would create around 90 jobs.
