A village school is celebrating completing the first phase of a project to improve its play area.

The project at Barningham CEVC Primary School includes a new climbing frame and play surface area, along side two tubs of herbs for a new sensory garden.

The improvements, which have cost £10,000, follow an Ofsted inspection which recommended a previously inaccessible area outside the school be redeveloped.

St Edmundsbury Borough Cllr, Carol Bull, donated money from her locality budget, with funds also provided by the Friends of the School committee and The POTS village gardening group. Stage two will begin early next year.
