FORMER County Upper School pupil Peter White returned to school to launch a bid to raise £4,500 to help him and two other riders cycle from Britain to Rwanda as part of the 2012 Olympic legacy.

Peter first visited Africa as part of a sixth form trip by County Upper and this spurred him to do the cycle along with friend Peter Goodwin and another rider.

Last Thursday the planning officer at St Edmundsbury Borough Council met students taking part in the Go-Ride inter-school cycling competition for gifted and talented Year 8 and 9 students.

The school will be raising money for his trek at their charity week.
