Person hurt in A14 crash

A PERSON suspected to have a spinal injury is on their way to hospital following an accident on the A14.

Police were called to the A14 westbound, between the junctions with Rougham and Bury St Edmunds, after a lorry and a red Volvo were in collision at around 4.25pm.

Fire crews from Bury and Elmswell, an emergency rescue tender from Bury and a pump rescue tender from Stowmarket were called to the scene, where they worked to remove the roof of the car to release at least one person.

According to the East of England Ambulance Service the injured person has a possible spinal injury and is on their way to West Suffolk Hospital for treatment.

One lane on the westbound carriage continues to be closed, as well as a nearby slip road.
