People's vote campaigners to be in Bury St Edmunds and Stowmarket




People's Vote campaigners will be in Bury St Edmunds and Stowmarket this weekend as part of a national day of action.

Open Britain Bury St Edmunds will be outside the Nutshell pub, in The Traverse,from 10.30am on Saturday, and in Stowmarket, outside Barclays Bank in the Market Place from 11am, with a Brexitometer with a different set of questions for the public about Brexit.

Christina Birt, leader of Open Britain Bury St Edmunds, said: "Our country is becoming weaker and poorer as the Brexit debate goes on.

"We need our MPs to urgently rescue the situation before we have any more job losses and business casualties. A People's Vote is what the majority of constituents want."

The action day follows the defeat of Theresa May's Brexit Deal and comes three days before parliament votes on the Prime Minister's Brexit plan B, on January 29.

The campaigners say 63 per cent of the people they have surveyed want a People's Vote, with 72 per cent wanting toretain access to the EU single market.

They said that their survey also showed the key concerns for the people of Bury St Edmunds regarding Brexit were the impact on the NHS, the local economy and jobs, as well as them and their family
