71-year-old Brandon man dies in police custody after falling ill at Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre
A Brandon man has died after falling ill in police custody.
The 71 year old became ill whilst at Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre on yesterday (Thursday), after being arrested in connection with an ongoing investigation.
The man was given medical assistance before being taken by ambulance to hospital, where he later died.
A full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the man's death is underway, with a post mortem examination to be held in due course.
The matter has also been referred to the Independent Office of Police Conduct as per standard procedure.
