Pendleton expected to race at Horseheath

Former Olympic cycling champion turned jockey Victoria Pendleton, has been listed to ride in a point-to-point race at Horseheath, between Haverhill and Linton, on Sunday.

Mildenhall Cycling Club gold member Pendleton and her mount, Supreme Danehill, have been entered in the novice race at 1.10pm on the card for the Cambridgeshire and Enfield Chase meeting.

Pendleton teamed up with Betfair last year for the Switching Saddles challenge, in which she aims to go from being a novice jockey to one that competes in the Foxhunters Chase at the Cheltenham Festival in March, on the Paul Nicholls -trained Pacha du Polder.

Clerk of the course, John Sharp said: “We have 121 entries from all over the country, but including an entry from Victoria Pendleton. We are hoping she is going to come, we are not certain.”

Before the point-o-point racing starts, Horseheath will host two pony races over a flat course, one of five furlongs and one of seven furlongs. The first race starts at 11am.

The going at Horseheath is currently good, good to soft on the home straight.
